APALA's 17th Biennial Convention COVID-19 Policy
The State of Washington rescinded its mandatory masking order on April 3, 2023.  APALA nonetheless wants everyone to convene safely so we highly encourage the following for all of our attendees:
  • be fully vaccinated and boosted to protect ourselves and our communities.
  • take a rapid home test before coming to the convention and not attend the convention if you test positive.
  • wear a high-quality mask (KN95 or N95) while traveling to Seattle. This includes, but is not limited to, buses, rideshares, at the airport(s), and on the plane.
  • wear a high-quality mask (KN95, N95, or surgical mask) while we are meeting (except to remove briefly to eat or speak).  Surgical masks will be available at the Registration desk.
  • ...and if you exhibit symptoms, please stay in your room (or return to your room immediately) and inform us at [email protected].

ABOUT CONVENTION
The Convention provides a place for workers, community activists, and allies to engage in lively and uplifting conversations as well as develop skills to build power for workers. The focus of our convention will be reflective of APALA’s work to uplift AAPI workers in the labor movement by building a strong political voice for worker rights, immigrant rights, global solidarity, and racial justice.  We will reflect on what we’ve accomplished and strategize how we will continue to strengthen our chapters, unions, worker centers, and community organizations to win good jobs, protect our communities, and fight for a future that is more fair and just for working people.
